After spending the first 5 months of 2015 in Tauranga, New Zealand doing a Discipleship Training School(DTS) In October 2015 we headed back to Tauranga, New Zealand to be on staff with Justice Reach, a part of Youth with a Mission(YWAM).
Justice Reach raises awareness of injustices, provides training(including DTS), and facilitates outreaches in order to bring God’s love, hope, freedom and justice to those trapped in unjust situations, such as human trafficking, both in New Zealand and internationally. Justice Reach currently have a particular focus on working with a local foster care families in New Zealand focusing on prevention, exploitation and human trafficking among vulnerable children and young people here in New Zealand.
Our main role here with Justice Reach is leading the DTS’s that Justice Reach runs. This involves us organising and planning the schools, being responsible for the day to day running of the schools, taking leadership and pastoral responsibility for the other members of staff on the DTS, as well as the students, amongst a variety of other things. The overall aims of running a DTS is to disciple, encourage and facilitate students growth in their walks with God. To create an environment, and opportunities for the students who come to encounter God in a new and deeper way. We also aim to raise awareness of the many injustices around the world and help the students understand more of God’s heart to see justice done in this world, and to give them the opportunity to get involved in fighting injustices on a 7 week outreach somewhere in the world that is looking for people to come and help.
We have had the joy and honour of seeing so many people come and have their lives transformed during a DTS and are excited to see God do even more in the future!
