42 hours after leaving Gloucester on Thursday morning we arrived at the YWAM base in Tauranga, New Zealand!
It took 4 plane flights, 27 hours flying time, 5 different airports, 3.5 hours on a bus, and 2.5 hours in a car, but it was all worth it to be back in the beautiful country that is New Zealand.
All the travelling went smoothly. We even had a fairly good amount of sleep on the planes. For a while we thought we may have a problem with our luggage being to heavy to be allowed on the plane, as we knew it was right on the edge of what was allowed, but the airline assistant at the check in desk was gracious to us. And even after our first flight, when we went to pick up the bag, we saw that it had had a label attached to it that said ‘DO NOT LOAD. Contact dispatch’. And yet clearly it had made it onto the flight and had arrived with us!
We arrived around lunch time on the Saturday, managed to stay awake for the afternoon, but were both fast asleep by 8pm! Sunday, we had a fairly relaxed day, including church in the morning, and spent the rest of the day recovering from our journey here, and then Monday morning we started staff training, which will last for the next two weeks.
Throughout staff training we will be covering all sorts of topics from how to communicate effectively to a whole day on health and safety that we have to look forward to!
We’re staying in a little ‘modcom’ which you can see in this picture that was taken when we arrived, and will be our home on the base for the next few months!
We hope to put a new blog post up every week or so to let you know what we’re up to. This is just a fairly short one to let you all know we’ve arrived!
Thank you again to everyone who has/is supporting us on this journey. We couldn’t do it without you and are so grateful and blessed by your support and willingness to be involved with us as we follow God’s leading for our lives!
